Confinement Taupo offers 4 exciting escape rooms with unique themes, storylines and clues as well as outdoor scavenger hunt's perfect for people who enjoy problem-solving games, birthdays, corporate team building and stags or hens do's.

We are located in central Taupo and are the first Escape Room in New Zealand to achieve a Qualmark certification.

Our outdoor Scavenger Hunt will have you exploring Taupo's CBD on foot solving clues, unlocking locks and completing tasks - just like an outdoor escape room.

Get your team of 2-6 players or break up a larger group into 2 or 3 teams and race head to head against each other - and the clock!

Can you unlock everything and complete all the tasks in one hour?

The Defenders

Storyline: You are in Taupo and some tourists have asked for your help! Their wallet has been stolen and they need you to solve the clues and save the day.

Allow approximately 90 minutes for the whole experience

Restrictions

An adult or teenager who is at least 14+ years old is required to attend the scavenger hunt to supervise any younger children.

Child Friendly

This experience welcomes families with children.

Notes

Once you arrive you can expect the Confinement Team to run through your mission, the contents of your backpack and the game rules, there will also be a timekeeper and main contact designated to a member of your group. The Confinement Team will then do a countdown with you and send you off. You will get 1 Hour and 30 Minutes to complete the Scavenger Hunt. For a greater challenge see if you can complete it in 60 Minutes! The Scavenger Hunt can accommodate teams of 2 - 6 people per game. We have 3 backpacks available per Game Scenario, so any larger groups can form a second and/or third team and grab another backpack..
As our Scavenger Hunts are outside, they are weather dependent. If the weather is not looking good on the day we will help to re-schedule you..

What a awesome activity to do and get out and about in Taupō. The clues are straight foward but fun, and it’s just enough to sight see but not get too tired. Definitely enjoyed and would recommend to others and come back to do other activities

best for locals or familiar with the area

We started off doing the scavenger hunt but found it too difficult as we are not familiar with Taupo and being able to find simple landmarks was frustrating and time consuming. We returned to HQ and swapped to an escape room instead - the hunting room. Really enjoyed the escape room and the staff were very friendly and accommodating to change us over.
