Experience not one but two of New Zealand’s mighty volcanoes with this incredible 90 minute scenic flight! Soar high above White Island and Mount Tarawera and gain a birds eye view of these mighty volcanoes.
Departing from Whakatane, we’ll take to the skies and you’ll get to experience amazing views from the get go as we fly over rolling farm land, beautiful white sand beaches and off shore islands.
Keep an eye out for dolphins & large schools of fish that are often seen on our journey as we head towards White Island, also known as Whakaari (The Dramatic Volcano).
Look deep inside the volcano and see the fascinating sulphur vents, bubbling mud and acid lakes. Hear the active volcano roar and hiss as gasses are released from its steaming vents. A mesmerising spectacle that attracts tourists, scientists and volcanologists worldwide.
Next up is a visit to Mount Tarawera, the volcano that produced the country’s largest eruption and destroyed the Pink and White Terraces, once hailed as one of the seven wonders of the world.
Have your camera at the ready as we soar above the volcano and its 25km long crater.
You’ll also get to fly over Waimangu Thermal Valley, Rotorua Lakes District, Mt Putauaki and Matahina Hydroelectric Dam and enjoy full commentary and exceptional service.

Amazing
Our pilot was really friendly and made flying on a small aircraft very comfortable. The views were exceptional giving us a whole new appreciation for the beautiful landscape and might of mother earth. We really enjoyed it. Definitely a must when in whakatane.

Superb flight, would love to do it again
This trip really was the highlight of our NZ tour so far and we're on week 6 of 7 We had good comms from Joanna (who also turned out to be the pilot) before the trip and finding the office was easy. Her friendly, confident style put us all at ease. It looked like the weather gods weren't on our side so we sef off to White Island, via Whale Island, with the hope that the clouds would clear and we'd also be able to go to see Mt Tarawera too. It wasn't to be, so Joanna spent plenty of time doing arcs of White Island allowing both sides of the plane to get the best possible view. AMAZING 🌋😃 Returning via Ohope finished off a super flight. We were really fortunate to have this opportunity and can highly recommend it. Thanks Joanna 🛩️
